Wow!
I was sitting in Colchester Library today and was really impressed by the exhibition, which is currently showing in their Les Livres Gallery area and spilling into the cafe.
The exhibition includes the work of 6, clearly very talented, lady photographers: Gwyn Bilby, Elizabeth Davis, Myrnie Fahie, Sylwia Kramarz, Lynda Robinson and Teresa Stewart, who have all produced some stunning and very varied pieces.
The ladies all belong to a group called 'Icon Colchester', which formed in 1994 and consists of women, drawn together by their love of photography.
The pieces on display range from images of Venice to the Great British seaside, from cultural scenes in London to wonderful photographs of Monet's water garden in France and from experimental images of flowers to others studying death. The photographers clearly have a great eye for colour, form and subject material and I thoroughly enjoyed looking at them.
If you are interested, or even if you are just in town and walking past the library, pop in and have a look. You won't be disappointed! The exhibition runs until October 27th 2012
